AEDC has announced major power outage in Abuja, Presidential Villa, Supreme Court and Airport.

NewsOnline Nigeria reports that the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company has announced a widespread power outage affecting several strategic locations in Abuja, including the Presidential Villa, Supreme Court, and the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport.

In a notice issued on Saturday, AEDC attributed the disruption in electricity supply to a technical fault currently being addressed by engineers from the Transmission Company of Nigeria.

According to the company, the outage has impacted major parts of the Federal Capital Territory, including Asokoro, Central Area, Lugbe, Garki Areas 2, 3, 7 and 8, alongside several government institutions, diplomatic missions, hotels, estates, and business districts.

Affected locations listed by AEDC include the State House, National Judicial Council, Supreme Court, National Assembly Annex, War College, Air Force Base, Customs Headquarters, Immigration offices, Correctional Services offices, Dunamis Church, Shoprite, Aviation Village, River Park Estate, and parts of Airport Road.

Several embassies and international organisations were also affected, including the European Union, Pakistan Embassy, India Embassy, Sudan Embassy, Egypt Embassy, and Turkish Embassy.

The company apologised to customers experiencing the blackout, assuring residents and institutions that efforts were ongoing to restore normal electricity supply.

“Our technical team, alongside officials of the Transmission Company of Nigeria, is working tirelessly to restore power to all affected areas. We regret the inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your patience and understanding,” AEDC stated.

The development comes amid growing concerns over persistent power supply challenges across Nigeria, particularly in key government and commercial districts within the nation’s capital.
