General Christopher Musa has claimed that Simon Ekpa’s arrest has brought a relative peace to Southeast.

NewsOnline Nigeria reports that Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Musa, says the arrest and ongoing prosecution of pro-Biafran agitator Simon Ekpa in Finland have contributed to improved security in the Southeast region.

Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Thursday, Musa noted that since Ekpa’s detention in November 2024 on terrorism-related charges, the Southeast has experienced relative calm.

“He is still undergoing prosecution in Finland. When we talked about him, people thought we were just making noise, but since his arrest, the Southeast is getting better,” the Defence Chief said.

Musa added that military operations are ongoing to dismantle Ekpa’s network across Imo, Enugu, Anambra, Ebonyi, and Abia states, vowing that security forces will “go after the likes of him, wherever they are, until we bring them down.”

The CDS also hailed the recent capture of Ansaru terrorist commanders, describing it as a significant achievement made possible through synergy between the Army, Navy, and Air Force.

To build on these successes, Musa announced that Nigeria will host an African Chiefs of Defence Staff Conference next week to strengthen regional collaboration against terrorism.
