Hajara Egbunu Becomes First Female Soldier In Infantry Corps To Attain Warrant Officer Rank

Hajara Egbunu became the First Female Soldier in the Infantry Corps to attain a Warrant Officer Rank.

 

NewsOnline Nigeriareports that the Nigerian Army has promoted Hajara Egbunu from the elite Infantry Corps and the Nigeria Army Women Command to the rank of Warrant Officer.

 

The event which took place, on Friday, at the Command Conference Room in Abuja, made Egbunu the first female soldier from the elite Infantry Corps and the Nigerian Army Women Command to attain the rank of Army Warrant Officer.

The Commander of the Nigerian Army Women Command, Brigadier General Mathias Amatso, who decorated Egbunu stated that she achieved the rank as a result of her hard work.

 

A statement from the Acting Assistant Director of Army Public Relations for the Nigerian Army Women Command, Lieutenant Maureen Ogbuka, Amatso praised Egbunu for her exceptional professionalism, dedication, and effectiveness.

 

He emphasized that “her promotion was a reflection of her hard work“. He urged her to continue setting an example by “upholding discipline and inspiring younger soldiers, aligning with the core values of the Nigerian Army.”

 

In her acceptance speech, Army Warrant Officer Egbunu expressed deep gratitude to God and the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, for his visionary leadership and support in facilitating her career advancement.

 

She thanked Brigadier General Amatso for guidance, which had been instrumental in her role as the Regimental Sergeant Major (RSM) of the Command.

 

The event concluded with a group photograph and light refreshments, marking a significant step toward gender inclusion in the Nigerian Army.
