NewsOnline Nigeria reports that Former Besiktas midfielder Sinan Engin has described Victor Osimhen’s performance in Galatasaray’s UEFA Champions League clash against Stuttgart as “mediocre”.
However, Engin believes Osimhen’s presence on the pitch helped midfielder Aleksey Batrakov deliver an impressive performance against the Bundesliga side.
Galatasaray secured a 2-0 victory over Stuttgart at Rams Park on Tuesday, with Batrakov scoring both goals.
Speaking after the match, Engin praised the midfielder and predicted that he could score several goals in the Champions League this season.
“I think Batrakov will score 7-8 goals in the Champions League. He’s a good player, he deserves the praise,” Engin said, as quoted by Asist Analiz.
He also argued that although Osimhen did not have his best performance, his presence played an important role in the team’s success.
“Today, Osimhen being mediocre on the field didn’t end up creating a negative impact, but he won with his presence on the field.
“If there was another player there, Batrakov couldn’t play this comfortably,” Engin added.
Galatasaray will now turn their attention to the Turkish Super Lig, where they are scheduled to face Amed SK this weekend.
