ADC has expelled Nafiu Bala Gombe and Rep Leke Abejide amid escalating crisis.

NewsOnline Nigeria reports that the leadership crisis within the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has escalated after a faction led by David Mark announced the expulsion of former Deputy National Chairman, Nafiu Bala Gombe, and House of Representatives member, Leke Abejide.

The decision was disclosed during the party’s National Congress held in Abuja on Tuesday.

Other members affected by the expulsion include Kenneth Ehiator, Stella Chukwu, and Elias Adiukwu, as the faction moved to consolidate its control amid ongoing internal disputes.

The development comes as Nafiu Bala Gombe continues to challenge the party’s leadership structure, insisting that he remains the authentic National Chairman of the ADC, despite earlier reports of his resignation as Deputy National Chairman.

In a recent move, Bala, alongside Abejide, led a protest to the headquarters of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), where he called on prominent political figures including Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, and David Mark to steer clear of the party’s affairs.

Bala accused the politicians of attempting to hijack the ADC, further intensifying the leadership tussle within the party.

The crisis has also taken a legal dimension, as a suit filed by Bala reportedly influenced INEC’s decision to withdraw recognition from the David Mark-led leadership.

The unfolding developments signal deepening divisions within the ADC, raising concerns about the party’s stability ahead of future political engagements.
