Benue Police has arrested 46 suspects over attack on Peter Obi’s convoy.
NewsOnline Nigeria reports that the operatives of the Benue State Police Command have arrested 46 suspects in connection with the attack and blockade of the convoy of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate, Peter Obi.
The Commissioner of Police in Benue State, Cletus Nwadiogbu, disclosed the arrests on Wednesday, saying investigations into the incident are ongoing.
Nwadiogbu said the police are also trailing key leaders of the youths allegedly involved in the incident, adding that the command is determined to identify everyone connected to the disruption.

He warned that the police would not tolerate political intolerance or violence in the state as the 2027 general elections approach.
According to the commissioner, the command would continue to take all necessary steps to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident and ensure that anyone found culpable is made to face the law.
The development followed the blockade of Obi’s convoy while he was travelling to Yelwata, where he was scheduled to meet and commiserate with victims of the attacks that occurred in the community in June 2025.
Trouble reportedly started a few metres from the airport when Obi’s convoy encountered a roadblock along the two-lane Makurdi-Gboko federal highway.
The incident caused a disruption to the movement of the convoy and prompted the intervention of security operatives.
The police investigation is expected to establish the identities and roles of other persons involved in the incident.
