Over 1.6 million applied for FG’s CDCFIS Recruitment as 60,000 candidates only got shortlisted for physical screening.
NewsOnline Nigeria reports that the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIS) has disclosed that more than 1.6 million Nigerians applied for its ongoing recruitment exercise, with only 60,000 candidates making the shortlist for the physical screening stage.
The Secretary of the CDCFIS Board, Maj.-Gen. Abdulmalik Jibril (retd.), revealed this on Friday in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, while monitoring the ongoing recruitment exercise.
According to him, about 30,000 successful applicants will eventually be recruited into the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services.

Jibril explained that the physical screening exercise, which commenced on Monday, is being conducted simultaneously across 14 designated centres nationwide to ensure applicants can access screening locations close to them.
He stated that officials are verifying uploaded documents while also conducting physical and medical assessments to determine candidates’ fitness for service.
The Board Secretary noted that only applicants who successfully participated in the Computer-Based Test (CBT) conducted in November 2025 were invited for the physical screening and document verification.
He stressed that the recruitment process would be strictly based on competence and merit to ensure that only qualified candidates are enlisted into the paramilitary agencies.
Jibril also warned applicants against engaging in fraudulent practices, reiterating that the recruitment exercise is completely free.
“I am here in Uyo to witness the continuation of the recruitment exercise into the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services. About 60,000 out of over 1.6 million applicants have been shortlisted for the physical screening exercise, and not less than 30,000 will eventually be recruited into the services,” he said.
He added that the screening process includes checks on applicants’ height, eyesight and legs to confirm they meet the physical standards required for paramilitary service.
