Ali Ndume has warned that the 2027 election will be a tough WWE-style battle for Tinubu and the APC.
NewsOnline Nigeria reports that Senator Ali Ndume, who represents Borno South Senatorial District in the National Assembly, has warned that the 2027 presidential election will be a fiercely contested political battle, comparing it to a World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) showdown.
Speaking during an appearance on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics, Ndume said the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and President Bola Tinubu should not underestimate the growing opposition coalition gathering ahead of the next general election.
The lawmaker made the remarks when asked about the emergence of prominent opposition figures, including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi, and Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, who are expected to play key roles in the 2027 political landscape.

While expressing confidence in the APC’s chances, Ndume cautioned against complacency, noting that many people around President Tinubu may not be presenting him with the realities on the ground.
“I am not that worried about it, but at the same time, I don’t take opponents for granted,” Ndume said.
“I have said this several times on television, and that is the mistake most of us are making, especially those around Mr President; they have problems telling him the facts. We are going to struggle it out together; it can be hard like the WWE; it’s going to be a tough fight.”
The senator stressed that despite internal disagreements and political differences, he remains committed to supporting President Tinubu and the APC ahead of the next election cycle.
According to him, political competition should be expected, especially with experienced contenders such as Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi remaining active in the political arena.
“The president is my president, he is in my party, we’re going to struggle it out together, and this is not the first time. Peter Obi has tried before, Atiku has tried before. Who else again? They are not new in the arena,” he added.
Ndume’s comments come amid increasing political realignments and coalition-building efforts among opposition figures seeking to challenge the APC in 2027.
Political analysts believe the next presidential election could be one of Nigeria’s most competitive contests, with major political actors already positioning themselves ahead of the race.
Despite his confidence in the ruling party, Ndume’s remarks underscore growing recognition within the APC that the 2027 election may present a significant challenge as opposition forces mobilise across the country.
