President Tinubu has closed Jim Obazee’s investigative panel on CBN activities.

NewsOnline Nigeria reports that President Bola Tinubu has formally concluded the investigation led by Mr. Jim Obazee, the former Chief Executive Officer of the Financial Reporting Council of Nigeria (FRC), who served as the Special Investigator for activities within the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and affiliated entities.

Expressing gratitude for Mr. Obazee’s service since his appointment on July 28, 2023, President Tinubu commended his dedication and expertise in overseeing this critical national task.

The investigation, which spanned several months, involved meticulous scrutiny of CBN operations and related institutions. Mr. Obazee’s efforts culminated in the submission of a comprehensive final report, marking the conclusion of the assignment.

As of March 31, 2024, all equipment utilized during the investigation has been properly wrapped up, signaling the official closure of the inquiry. Law enforcement and regulatory agencies are now tasked with taking further action based on the findings presented.

President Tinubu’s acknowledgement of Mr Obazee’s contributions underscores the significance of the investigation and its role in maintaining transparency and accountability within financial institutions.

With the investigation now concluded, attention shifts to the potential implications of its findings and the subsequent steps to be taken by relevant authorities in ensuring compliance and integrity within the Nigerian financial sector.
