Minister of Power, Bayo Adelabu has come under heavy criticism over his recent comment amidst nationwide darkness and electricity price hike.

NewsOnline Nigeria reports that Minister of Power, Bayo Adelabu has come under heavy criticism over his recent comment that Nigerians lack proper electricity consumption culture.

According to the Minister in a now-viral video, Nigerians leave their freezers on while going out to work because they pay little for electricity.

“We don’t have consumption management in this country. Some people leave their AC and freezers on for days because we are not paying enough for the power” – he said. Watch the Video Here.
This Nigeria news platform understands that his comment has since infuriated Nigerians who have taken to various social media platforms to call him out and demand his sack.

Somto Onuchukwu tweeted, “Listen to a sitting minister of Power. Prof Barth Nnaji was once a minister of power under PDP. Look at the people city boy is working with in 2024? There’s no hope for progress under these charlatans.”

@MrOdanz, “This is what you get when you put someone who studied accounting as Minister of power. It is like giving a Chimpanzee a machine gun. Chaos”
@SarkinMota_AMF, “Nigerians are resilient people, and That’s why the minister of power is doing as he pleases because he knows nothing would happen beyond social media. 20 hours minimum was promised to us band A users, Since morning no light and the new unit price has taken effect!”
@Tee_Classiquem1, “This Minister of power is the most incompetent minister in Nigeria right now, I don’t even know the parameters they use in appointing this people to office”
Sam, “Minister of power said we should put off our freezer when we are leaving the house. You know how much I buy fish?”
@iSlimfit, “If the country had steady electricity and people only pay for what they use, the Minister of Power wouldn’t need to go on air to make such a foolish statement asking people to turn off their freezers and ACs. Bayo Adelabu went to school I guess? Oyo people is this your best?”

@mni_JJ, “Minister of Power is not only incompetent but dolo ne and he lacks empathy, he doesn’t know how to address a grieving nation he has put in darkness ever since he assumed office.”

@ManLikeIcey, “Adelabu will not last long as Minister of Power, this is on 100.”
@T_akinpade, “The Minister of Power’s unintelligent media broadcast was an alter shame and shows that the government is anti-people, grossly incompetent, and doesn’t deserve to be given more time in Aso Rock.”
@sheni_coker, “Someone that should be in the garage assisting MC Oluomo, you made him minister of power”
@wahalaMann, “This man doesn’t know what he is saying, we buy light on a prepaid meter and you still want to tell us how to use it? Maybe he is refering to those without prepaid meter”
@KenEhi7, “This Minister is on cheap drugs , they have nothing to offer, so because of Freezer and AC is part of the reason you increase electricity, is the prepaid not Pay ‘as’ You go. You don’t Produce enough but you are talking about consumption management. Shineke me”
