1. A Kaduna-bound train derailed on Monday after explosives believed to be planted on the rail track went off close to the Rigasa area of the State. It was gathered that the 6pm train, which took off from Idu Train Station at the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), hit the explosive device about 30 minutes to Rigasa train station in Kaduna.

2. Gunmen believed to be enforcing the Monday sit-at-home order of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) reportedly shot at passengers in the New Market area of Enugu North Local Government Area of Enugu State on Monday. The bus conveying the passengers, who left their homes early to attend to their businesses, was said to have been riddled with bullets.

3. The Federal Government has said the increase in prices of some foodstuffs, petrol, diesel and other items is a global trend, and not limited to any country. The Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, stated this at a media briefing on Monday in Abuja.

4. A Federal High Court in Abuja has refused to grant bail to the suspended Deputy Commissioner of Police, Abba Kyari. The presiding judge Justice Emeka Nwite gave the ruling on Monday.

5. Troops of 82 Division Nigerian Army (NA) conducting clearance operations along Anambra/Imo States border communities, on Monday, dislodged a criminal hideout used by the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and its armed affiliate, Eastern Security Network ( ESN) in Orsumoghu, Ihiala Local Government Area of Anambra State.

6. The National Association of Nigerian Students, NANS, yesterday started a daily protest in Abuja over the continuous shutdown of the nation’s universities as a result of the strike embarked upon by members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU.

7. Civil servants in Anambra State on Monday defied the State Government’s directive to come to work every Monday against the Independent People of Biafra’s (IPOB) sit-at-home order. It was gathered that most government offices were under lock and key yesterday.

8. Bandits have attacked a community in Giwa Local Government Area of Kaduna State, killing 15 locals on Sunday. Journalists were told that the bandits invaded Hayin Kanwa village, Yakawada ward in Giwa Local Government Area of Kaduna State, and killed 15 people.

9. Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, says he will withdraw from the presidential race if the People Democratic Party zones the presidential ticket to the north. Speaking in an interview on Monday, Gov. Wike said he will “abide” by whatever position the party takes on the zoning arrangement.

10. Ex-Senate President, Bukola Saraki, Governors of Bauchi and Sokoto States, Bala Mohammed and Aminu Tambuwal, yesterday, met the Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom over the 2023 presidential ticket of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
