1. No fewer than 399 pieces of improvised explosive devices were recovered by operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency from one Asana Leke, 39, along Mokwa-Jebba Road. The suspect, who said the explosives were handed to him at a park in Ibadan, Oyo State, to be delivered to someone in Kaduna, had since, alongside the exhibits, been transferred to the military authorities in Niger State.
2. Niger State Governor, Mohammed Bago has expressed shock over Sunday’s boat accident that claimed many lives in Mokwa Local Government Area of the State. Twenty-four persons, mostly women and children, have been confirmed dead and over 30 people rescued, while a combined rescue operation by marine police and local divers in collaboration with Niger State Emergency Management Agency is ongoing.

Operatives of the Anambra State Police Command have rescued a kidnap victim after an exchange of gunfire with the fleeing abductors at Umuota Village, Obosi, in Idemili North Local Government Area of the State. The victim, identified simply as Abuchi, from Orumba South LGA of Anambra State, was said to have been kidnapped on Saturday evening and was rescued after residents alerted the police.

Residents of Magboro in the Obafemi Owode Local Government Area of Ogun State were on Saturday thrown into mourning as a truck crushed a pregnant woman to death and injured her two-year-old child. It was gathered that the incident occurred when the truck with registration number TTD-643ZY suddenly swerved into Magboro market after it suffered brake failure, which made the driver lose control.
