Labour Party has welcomed Kwankwaso’s offer to deputize Peter Obi in 2027.

NewsOnline Nigeria reports that the Labour Party (LP) has welcomed Rabiu Kwankwaso’s offer to join forces with Peter Obi in the 2027 general elections.

Recall that Kwankwaso, the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) presidential candidate in the 2023 election, in a recent video expressed his willingness to serve as Obi’s running mate, provided certain conditions are met.

“I’ve no problem with deputising for Peter Obi, but only if certain conditions are met,” he had said.

The party through its national secretary, Umar Farouk, shared his thoughts on Kwankwaso’s proposal, praising his willingness to support Obi.

“We are happy Kwankwaso has alighted from the high horse he was riding and is willing to offer himself to Obi as deputy, having seen he garnered more than six million votes at the 2023 election,” Farouk said.

The LP believes that a unity ticket featuring Kwankwaso and Obi would be a game-changer for Nigerians, potentially ousting the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2027.

This development comes on the heels of Peter Obi’s expression  of willingness to merge with other parties including the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), provided certain conditions are met.
