FG is set to honour Aviation Legends as Nigeria marks 100 years of flight.

NewsOnline Nigeria reports that the Federal Government will, on Monday, December 1, 2025, honour distinguished aviators whose pioneering contributions have shaped Nigeria’s aviation industry over the past century.

Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, announced the event in a Facebook post on Saturday, describing the awardees as “icons whose vision and dedication laid the groundwork for Nigeria’s aviation success.” He also shared photos of some of the honourees.

The ceremony, scheduled to hold at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre in Abuja, will celebrate industry trailblazers including Chief Gabriel Igbinedion, founder of Okada Air; and the late Alhaji Ahmadu Dankabo, founder of Kabo Air, among several others regarded as pillars of Nigeria’s aviation development.

Keyamo noted that the recognition is part of activities marking 100 years of aviation in Nigeria, tracing the sector’s evolution from its colonial era origins to its present status as a critical contributor to the country’s economy.

The event is expected to attract key stakeholders, including former and serving officials of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA), airline operators, and representatives of leading global aviation organisations.
