El-Rufai has accused Kaduna Police Commissioner of constitutional violation over summon.

NewsOnline Nigeria reports that Former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has accused the Kaduna State Commissioner of Police of breaching the constitution following a summon issued against him.

This Nigeria news platform recalls that the Kaduna Police Command had earlier disrupted a scheduled meeting of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in the state before summoning El-Rufai and seven ADC members for questioning over alleged criminal conspiracy, incitement of public disturbance, mischief, and causing grievous hurt.

In the summon, the state ADC chairman was directed to produce El-Rufai and the others at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) on September 8.

Reacting during a press conference at his private residence in Kaduna, El-Rufai condemned the action, describing it as unlawful.

“The commissioner knows what he is doing violates the Constitution. He waved a piece of paper claiming it was a court order, but it was never served. Even if such an order exists, it must be legally delivered before it can take effect. That has not happened,” El-Rufai said.

He further described the summon as a “dangerous descent into lawlessness,” vowing to contest it in court. “We want to see that injunction, we want to know the grounds, and we will contest them in court. This is not the end, further steps will follow,” he declared.
