Trump has announced a ceasefire deal between Israel and Iran.

NewsOnline Nigeria reports that President Donald Trump has announced a “complete and total” ceasefire between Israel and Iran, marking what he described as the end of “The 12 Day War” that threatened to plunge the Middle East into full-scale chaos.

This Nigeria news platform understands that President Trump made the declaration Monday night in a series of posts on his Truth Social platform, stating that the ceasefire would take effect “in approximately six hours” after both sides complete a wind-down of their military operations.

“Upon the 24th hour, the war will officially end,” he added.

While Israeli and Iranian officials have yet to confirm the truce, Trump expressed confidence in its success, saying, “On the assumption that everything works as it should, which it will, I would like to congratulate both countries.”

He praised the outcome, claiming that “this is a war that could have gone on for years and destroyed the entire Middle East, but it didn’t—and never will!”

The U.S. president’s remarks came just hours after Iran launched a barrage of ballistic missiles targeting American military installations in Qatar and Iraq.

The strike was in retaliation for last week’s joint U.S.-Israeli strikes on key Iranian nuclear facilities, including the heavily fortified Fordo site and government targets in Tehran.

According to Trump, U.S. missile defense systems successfully intercepted 13 out of 14 incoming Iranian missiles.

“No Americans were harmed, hardly any damage was done,” he stated, adding that the lone missile that made it through “posed no threat.”

He also confirmed that Qatari personnel were unharmed.

Qatar’s Ministry of Defence later corroborated that its air defense systems neutralized threats targeting Al Udeid Air Base, home to the largest U.S. military presence in the region.

Despite the attack, U.S. and Qatari officials emphasized that normalcy was returning. The American embassy in Qatar lifted its shelter-in-place order shortly after the strike, even as Qatari airspace remained temporarily shut.

Trump, in his follow-up statement, offered special thanks to the Emir of Qatar “for all that he has done in seeking Peace for the Region,” and declared, “CONGRATULATIONS WORLD, IT’S TIME FOR PEACE!”
