BREAKING: Tinubu Under Pressure To Reinstate Fubara Amid Peace Path With Wike

President Tinubu is currently under pressure to reinstate Fubara and Rivers Lawmakers following peace path with Wike.

NewsOnline Nigeria reports that President Bola Tinubu is facing mounting pressure from key stakeholders, including the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), to facilitate the full reinstatement of Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara and lawmakers affected by the state’s recent political crisis.

In a statement issued by NYCN President and Secretary of the Board of Trustees, Ambassador Sukubo Sara-Igbe Sukubo, the council commended Tinubu’s intervention in brokering peace between Governor Fubara and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike. The reconciliation, which followed months of bitter political infighting, is being hailed as a significant turning point for democratic stability in the oil-rich state.

“The President’s decisive leadership has not only rescued Rivers State from the brink of political breakdown but also reaffirmed his unwavering commitment to national unity, good governance, and democratic stability,” the statement read.

While applauding the peace accord, the NYCN urged Tinubu to take the next step by ensuring the full reinstatement of Governor Fubara’s authority, alongside the return of state legislators displaced during the political conflict.

“This gesture will serve as a powerful symbol of reconciliation and healing,” the council stated. “It will empower the governor to fulfill his mandate and renew public trust in democratic institutions.”

The youth council called on political actors in Rivers to put aside differences and prioritize peace, unity, and dialogue. It also described the reconciliation as a teachable moment for both politicians and Nigerian youths.

“Peace is not a weakness but a strength. It is the foundation upon which progress, innovation, and prosperity are built,” the NYCN said.

NewsOnline Nigeria reports that the council pledged continued collaboration with federal and state institutions to promote peaceful engagement and strengthen conflict resolution frameworks nationwide.

The appeal comes in the wake of a landmark closed-door meeting last week at the Presidential Villa, where Tinubu brought Wike and Fubara to the table for the first time in months—paving the way for a possible resolution of one of Nigeria’s most contentious political feuds.
