President Tinubu has appointed Argungu new Police Service Commission Chair.

 

NewsOnline Nigeria reports that President Bola Tinubu has appointed retired Deputy Inspector-General of Police Hashimu Argungu as Chairman of the Police Service Commission (PSC).

 

This Nigeria news platform understands that President Tinubu also appointed Chief Onyemuche Nnamani as Secretary of the council and retired Deputy Inspector-General of Police Taiwo Lakanu as Member of the Commission.

 

A statement on Monday by Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, said the appointments are subject to Senate confirmation.

“President Bola Tinubu has approved the appointment of DIG Hashimu Argungu (Rtd) as the Chairman of the Police Service Commission (PSC).

 

“The President has also approved the appointment of Chief Onyemuche Nnamani as Secretary and DIG Taiwo Lakanu (Rtd) as Member of the Commission.

“The appointments are subject to confirmation by the Senate.

 

“Other members of the Police Service Commission will be appointed in due course”, the statement said.

Also, Mr. Mohammed Sheidu has been appointed as Executive Secretary of the Nigeria Police Trust Fund (NPTF), effective immediately.

 

“Furthermore, the President has approved the appointment of Mr. Mohammed Sheidu as the Executive Secretary of the Nigeria Police Trust Fund (NPTF) with immediate effect.

 

“The President expects absolute demonstration of integrity, diligence, and patriotic zeal in the discharge of these important functions for the overall wellbeing of the Nigeria Police and the nation”, the statement said.

 

These appointments are part of President Tinubu’s efforts to reform and transform the Nigeria Police Force into a modern, professional, and accountable institution.
