AIG Zone 2 has decorated the newly promoted ACP Egbeyemi in a grand ceremony.
NewsOnline Nigeria reports that in a momentous event attended by distinguished guests, including northern royalties and community leaders, the Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) in charge of Zone 2 Command, Onikan, Lagos, AIG Fayoade Adegoke Mustapha, officially decorated Saheed Olayinka Egbeyemi with his new rank as Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) on Thursday, March 27, 2025.
This Nigeria news platform understands that ACP Egbeyemi’s promotion follows a recommendation by the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, just ten days earlier. Previously serving as the Commander of the Raider Team at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Panti, Yaba, Lagos, his elevation from Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) to ACP underscores his exemplary service and dedication to duty.
The decoration ceremony, held at the MD Abubakar Hall, was a jubilant affair, as the hall erupted in applause when ACP Egbeyemi’s name was announced by the Zone 2 Police spokesperson, CSP Ayuba. Friends, family, colleagues, and well-wishers gathered to celebrate the milestone, reflecting the high regard in which he is held within the force and his community.
In his address to the newly promoted officers, AIG Fayoade emphasized that the promotions were strictly merit-based, recognizing the officers’ commitment and excellence in service. He urged them to intensify their efforts in upholding law and order, reinforcing the Nigeria Police Force’s mission to safeguard lives and property.
“With promotion comes greater responsibility,” AIG Fayoade remarked. “You have now stepped into the ranks of commissioners of police in different capacities, leaving behind the superintendent cadre. The expectations are higher, and the demands on your professionalism and leadership will be even greater.”
He congratulated all the promoted officers and extended his gratitude to their families and guests who graced the occasion, acknowledging the vital support they provide to the officers.
ACP Egbeyemi’s extensive experience in community policing was a major highlight of the event, evident in the wide array of dignitaries present to celebrate his achievement. Among the notable attendees were HRH Alhaji Ahmed Haruna Kuraja, the Sarki Overall of Alimosho Local Government in Lagos, and HH Amb. Dr. Sani Salisu Danmuttaqa, the Sarkin Samari of the Seventeen Southern States of Nigeria. Various non-governmental organizations, including the Agege Molebi United Forum and Zenon Club, alongside his alumni from African Church Primary School and Anwarul Islam College (ACAOSA), also joined in the celebrations.
According to reports, ACP Saheed Olayinka Egbeyemi has been assigned to lead the Operations Department of the Zone 2 Command, effective immediately, further cementing his role in strengthening security across Lagos and Ogun States.
