Court has ordered for the eviction of Comedian Ali Baba from Victoria Island Property.

NewsOnline Nigeria reports that popular comedian Atunyota Akpobome, better known as Ali Baba, and his company, XQZMOI TV, have been evicted from a prime property in Victoria Island following a Federal High Court ruling that nullified its sale to him.

Bailiffs carried out the eviction on August 28, 2025, under a writ issued on August 15, enforcing a judgment delivered on July 31 by Justice Ambrose Lewis-Allagoa.

The court dismissed a suit filed by the Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria (AMCON) against Harold Expansion Industries, which had contested AMCON’s claim to the property at 324A Akin Ogunlewe Street. Justice Lewis-Allagoa ordered that ownership revert to the family of the deceased original owner.

AMCON had alleged that Harold Expansion owed N617 million in loans dating back to 2008, which it claimed to have acquired from the defunct Bank PHB. To recover part of the debt, AMCON sold the disputed property to Ali Baba in 2021 for N220 million despite ongoing court proceedings.

In his ruling, Justice Lewis-Allagoa held that AMCON failed to provide essential evidence, including the defendant’s statement of account, and did not respond to Harold Expansion’s counterclaims. He described the agency’s case as fundamentally defective.

Citing Section 131(1) of the Evidence Act 2011, the judge struck out AMCON’s claims, awarding the property to Harold Expansion’s family along with N500 million in damages.
