INEC Opens 2026 Recruitment Portal, Invites Applications for Entry-Level Jobs

INEC said the recruitment exercise is aimed at strengthening its capacity in electoral administration, voter registration, data management and election logistics to enhance the effective discharge of its constitutional responsibilities.

INEC has opened 2026 Recruitment Portal and invites applications for entry-level jobs.

NewsOnline Nigeria reports that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has opened its 2026 recruitment portal, inviting suitably qualified Nigerians to apply for entry-level positions across Grade Levels 07, 08, 09, 10 and 12.

According to a notice published on the commission’s website, the application portal opened on Monday, July 20, and will close on Monday, July 27, 2026.

INEC said the recruitment exercise is aimed at strengthening its capacity in electoral administration, voter registration, data management and election logistics to enhance the effective discharge of its constitutional responsibilities.

The commission urged interested applicants to submit their applications online through its recruitment portal by creating an account, completing the application form and uploading all required credentials.

INEC also emphasized that the recruitment process is completely free, warning applicants against submitting false information or forged documents, noting that offenders would be disqualified and could face prosecution.

Available Positions

The vacancies are divided into three categories:

Professional Cadre (Grade Levels 09, 10 and 12)

Available positions include:

  • Accountant
  • Clinical Officer
  • Lawyer
  • ICT Officer
  • Engineer
  • Quantity Surveyor

Applicants must possess a bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant discipline, while some roles may require a master’s degree. Professional certifications such as NBA, COREN, NSE, NIQS, ICAN, ANAN or CPN, where applicable, at least two years of post-qualification experience, an NYSC discharge or exemption certificate, and strong ICT, analytical and communication skills are also required.

Administrative Officer II (Registration Area Officer) – Grade Level 08

Applicants must possess a bachelor’s degree, Higher National Diploma (HND), or equivalent qualification in the Social Sciences, Humanities or Sciences. Candidates are also expected to have an NYSC discharge, exemption or exclusion certificate, as well as proficiency in data management, record keeping and Microsoft Office applications.

Executive Officer (Registration Officer) – Grade Level 07

Candidates applying for this cadre must possess a National Certificate in Education (NCE) or its equivalent from a recognized institution, with good computer, communication and organizational skills.

General Requirements

INEC said applicants must:

  • Present a valid certificate of state of origin signed by the chairman or secretary of their local government.
  • Be certified physically and mentally fit by a government medical officer.
  • Not be more than 35 years old at the time of application.
  • Be of good character with no criminal conviction.
  • Be willing to work in any part of Nigeria.
  • Demonstrate integrity, discipline and commitment to public service.

How to Apply

Interested candidates should:

  • Visit the INEC recruitment portal.
  • Create an applicant account using their personal details, email address and National Identification Number (NIN).
  • Verify their email address.
  • Select their preferred cadre and vacancy.
  • Upload all required documents, including a passport photograph, birth certificate or declaration of age, O’Level result, academic certificates, local government identification certificate and NYSC certificate where applicable.
  • Review and submit the application online.

The commission noted that applicants cannot change their selected vacancy after submission and added that only shortlisted candidates will be contacted for the next stage of the recruitment process.
