Goodluck Jonathan has spoken on the degree of betrayal he experienced during his 2015 re-election bid.

NewsOnline Nigeria reports that Former President Goodluck Jonathan has revealed that he suffered betrayal from political allies during his 2015 re-election campaign.

Jonathan made the remarks in Benin City, Edo State, at the 70th birthday celebration of his longtime associate and former Chief of Staff, Chief Mike Aiyegbeni Oghiadomhe.

The former president described Oghiadomhe as one of the few loyal friends who stood firmly by him, adding that Nigerian politics is deeply marked by betrayal.

“Politics in the Nigerian standard is about betrayals. I have witnessed a lot of betrayal during the 2015 election. You will find it difficult to see somebody who says the same thing in the morning, in the afternoon and in the evening,” Jonathan said.

Oghiadomhe served as Jonathan’s Chief of Staff between 2010 and 2014.

Jonathan’s remarks come amid growing speculation that he may return to the ballot in 2027 under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), though he has not confirmed the reports.
