Trump has asked Americans to vote on new name for Artificial Intelligence.
NewsOnline Nigeria reports that US President Donald Trump has asked his followers to vote on whether “Artificial Intelligence” should be given a new name, proposing three alternatives as he argues that the existing term does not adequately describe the technology.
In a post on X on Saturday, Trump suggested Superior Intelligence (SI), Extreme Intelligence (EI) and Supreme Intelligence (SI) as possible replacements for “Artificial Intelligence.”
Trump said he believed the term was inaccurate and lacked the elegance he considered appropriate for the rapidly developing technology.

“Many people think that the words ‘Artificial Intelligence’ are inaccurate, and very ineloquent, relative to AI, or Artificial Intelligence,” Trump wrote.
“A far more elegant and accurate description of this new phenomena would be Superior Intelligence (SI) or, Extreme Intelligence (EI) or, Supreme Intelligence (SI),” he added.
Trump then invited users to vote on which of the three alternatives would be the most suitable name for what he described as an expanding technological “Revolution.” The poll does not represent a formal US government proposal to change the established name of the technology.
The proposed names generated attention online as Trump continued to highlight artificial intelligence as a major area of technological and economic development.
The naming poll came on the same day Trump announced plans to establish an “AI Force” and appoint a new AI “czar” to oversee aspects of his administration’s approach to the technology.
Trump did not provide detailed information on the structure, powers or implementation timeline of the proposed AI Force or the new adviser. Reuters reported that the announcement would mark another effort by the administration to coordinate its approach to artificial intelligence.
Trump compared the proposed AI Force with the Space Force, which was established during his first term.
The President has also rejected calls for measures that he believes could slow the growth of the US artificial intelligence industry.
In a separate social media statement, Trump said his administration would not “hinder or stifle” the growth of the AI industry, while maintaining that existing criminal and civil justice systems could be used to address misconduct.
“We will not in any way hinder or stifle the Growth of this incredible Industry. Rather, we will cherish it, help it, and watch over it, as it grows,” he wrote.
Trump’s latest comments come amid an intensifying debate in the United States over the pace of AI development, its economic potential and the appropriate level of government oversight.
The debate has also intensified following recent warnings from researchers and technology executives about potential risks associated with increasingly capable AI systems. At the same time, Trump has continued to argue that maintaining rapid US development of the technology is strategically important, particularly in competition with China.
The proposed renaming of artificial intelligence remains a social-media poll rather than an announced change to official US terminology.
