NewsOnline Nigeria reports that Nollywood actor Uche Odoputa has announced that his family will hold an empty-casket funeral for his late father, explaining that they have no remains to lay to rest.
Odoputa made the announcement in an emotional social media post, revealing that the family would honour his father, Mr Kenneth Chukwumezie Odoputa, in a few weeks.
According to the actor, although they have no body to bury, they remain determined to celebrate his father’s life and cherish the memories and love they shared.
“We have no body to lay to rest, but we have his life to remember, his dignity to honour and our love to express,” the actor wrote.
He also described his father as “Honestman” and pledged that the family would continue to preserve his memory.
Odoputa further used the announcement to encourage people going through grief to open up to someone they trust and seek emotional support.
“Dad, we love you. We remember you. We will always honour you,” he added.
