NewsOnline Nigeria reports that Barcelona winger Lamine Yamal has overtaken Real Madrid forward Kylian Mbappé to become the highest-scoring teenager in UEFA Champions League history.
Yamal achieved the milestone after scoring in Barcelona’s 3-0 victory over Aston Villa on Tuesday. The 19-year-old capitalised on a Villa defensive error in the seventh minute at Spotify Camp Nou, curling the ball past Zion Suzuki to register his 14th Champions League goal.
Mbappé, who has scored 72 goals in the competition overall, previously held the teenage record with 13 goals.
Yamal has reached 14 goals in just 37 appearances, adding to a growing list of Champions League milestones. The Spain international also remains the youngest player to start a match in the competition’s main stage, having made his European debut against FC Porto at the age of 16 years and 83 days.
Last week, Yamal finished third in the 2026 Ballon d’Or voting, behind Bayern Munich’s Harry Kane and Mbappé.
The Barcelona youngster has also enjoyed an impressive start to the new season, recording 13 goals and 11 assists in 15 appearances across all competitions.
