PDP has expelled Wike, Fayose, and Anyanwu among others in a major purge ahead of 2027 elections.

NewsOnline Nigeria reports that in a dramatic shake-up aimed at restoring unity and discipline ahead of the 2027 general elections, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has expelled several top members at its ongoing 2025 National Convention in Ibadan, Oyo State.

Among those expelled are former Rivers State governor Nyesom Wike, former Ekiti governor Ayo Fayose, former PDP National Secretary Senator Samuel Anyanwu, Kamaldeen Ajibade (SAN), Hon. Austin Nwachukwu, and several other influential figures.

The sweeping decision, ratified by an overwhelming majority of delegates, marks one of the party’s boldest moves in years, signaling a firm stance against internal sabotage, anti-party activities, and persistent divisions that have weakened the PDP’s political fortunes.

The development is expected to reshape the party’s internal structure as it positions itself for a stronger outing in 2027.
