Toyin Abraham has rejected APC Campaign Council role after being listed without her consent.
NewsOnline Nigeria reports that Nollywood actress Toyin Abraham has rejected her reported inclusion in the Lagos State All Progressives Congress (APC) Campaign Council, saying she is “staying out of politics” and asking the public to disregard her listing.
Abraham’s name appeared among members of the Entertainment and Creative Economy Directorate of the Lagos APC campaign council unveiled on Thursday ahead of the 2027 elections.
However, in an Instagram Story on Thursday, Abraham said she had not joined any campaign council and reiterated her decision to remain outside political activities.

“I’m not a member of any campaign council. I have said it recently. I am staying out of politics. Please disregard the supposed inclusion of my name in any campaign committee,” she wrote.
Her name was included alongside other entertainment personalities such as Jide Kosoko, Eniola Badmus, Bimbo Akintola, Adebayo Salami, Saheed Balogun and Bukky Wright, as well as Fuji musicians Wasiu Alabi Pasuma, Obesere and Adewale Ayuba.
The published structure lists Toke Benson-Awoyinka as Director of the Entertainment and Creative Economy Directorate, with Kosoko as Co-Director and Badmus as Deputy Director. Akeem Alimi, popularly known as Ajala Jalingo, was listed as Secretary, while Dare Olateju was named Assistant Secretary.
Other entertainers named in the directorate include Yinka Quadri, Tayo Sobola, Fathia Balogun, Abiola Adebayo, Remi Oshodi, Foluke Daramola, Small Doctor, Osupa and Malaika.
Abraham’s rejection comes against the background of her public involvement in the 2023 presidential election, when she expressed support for President Bola Tinubu.
Following that involvement, she faced criticism and online attacks, including campaigns by some social media users calling for her films to be removed from streaming platforms. She also reported alleged defamatory and cyberbullying content involving her and her family to law enforcement authorities.
In 2024, Abraham said she would no longer publicly disclose her political affiliation following the backlash she experienced over her 2023 political position.
Her latest statement makes clear that she does not regard herself as a member of the Lagos APC campaign council, despite her name appearing in the published list.
As of Friday, her name remained in the council document released by the Lagos APC, creating a discrepancy between the published membership list and Abraham’s public rejection of the reported appointment.
