Dino has warned President Tinubu against taking the 2027 presidential election for granted, invoking the late military ruler Sani Abacha as an example that political power and endorsements do not guarantee political destiny.
NewsOnline Nigeria reports that Former Kogi West Senator, Dino Melaye, has issued a warning to President Bola Tinubu ahead of the 2027 presidential election, urging him to remember the fate of late former military Head of State, Sani Abacha.
Melaye, a chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), said Abacha had secured the endorsement of all five registered political parties at the time and was on course to transition from military ruler to civilian president before his death.

In a post shared on his X account on Wednesday, the former lawmaker said political calculations alone do not determine leadership, stressing what he described as the “God factor” in the affairs of men.
“There is a God factor in the affairs of men. Tinubu does not understand this. Abacha was endorsed by all the five political parties at that time.
“There was no contest; he was already cruising to become a civilian president. God picked His phone and called Abacha.
“When God calls you, there is no network failure. That God has not gone on omugo, Tinubu watch it,” Melaye wrote.
His remarks come amid growing political realignments and early campaigns ahead of the 2027 general election, with opposition figures increasingly criticising the Tinubu administration and calling for a change in leadership.
