“I’m positive that we will have a very good working relationship, and I can tell you that you can see it even from the past,” he added.

Kwankwaso has assured Nigerians of smooth working relationship with Peter Obi.

NewsOnline Nigeria reports that a chieftain of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has assured Nigerians that he would maintain a cordial and effective working relationship with former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, ahead of the 2027 elections.

Kwankwaso stated that his experience in public office, particularly as governor of Kano State, demonstrated that political leaders and their deputies could work together harmoniously without conflict.

Speaking during an interview on Arise Television’s Prime Time programme on Monday, the former Kano governor dismissed concerns and sentiments surrounding regional differences in his proposed alliance with Obi.

“Well, I can tell you that from my experience as former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, I had the opportunity to work with my Speaker and we worked very well,” Kwankwaso said.

“I was in Kano for eight years despite the difficulties with my then deputy governor, but we were able to work amicably for eight years, to the extent that I handed over to him in the end.”

Kwankwaso blamed political disagreements between leaders and their deputies on greed and personal ambition.

“The problem people are having, especially leaders, is that they are too greedy to the extent that they begin to have issues,” he stated.

“What I have seen at the federal and state levels where I have worked is that there is so much to do; you don’t have to fight your vice.”

The fomer NNPP chieftain added that, based on his previous political experience, he sees no reason why a vice president or deputy governor should be in conflict with a president or governor.

“I’m positive that we will have a very good working relationship, and I can tell you that you can see it even from the past,” he added.

Kwankwaso further referenced the political alliances of Nigeria’s founding leaders, including Abubakar Tafawa Balewa, Ahmadu Bello, and former President Shehu Shagari, saying the North had historically maintained productive political relationships with leaders from the South-East.
