ALAT by Wema
NewsOnline Nigeria reports that Wema Bank has marked the ninth anniversary of ALAT by Wema, Africa’s first fully digital bank, celebrating nearly a decade of innovation and transformation in Nigeria’s banking sector.
Launched in 2017, ALAT was introduced as a digital-first solution designed to eliminate the challenges associated with traditional banking, including long queues, physical limitations, and slow service delivery.
Over the years, the platform has evolved into a comprehensive digital banking ecosystem that enables customers to open accounts, make payments, save, and manage finances seamlessly from anywhere.
According to the bank, ALAT has continued to expand its offerings to meet the changing needs of individuals, businesses, and digitally driven consumers, while also promoting financial inclusion across Nigeria.
To commemorate the milestone, Wema Bank unveiled the “ALAT at 9” campaign, featuring a series of customer engagement activities, rewards, and interactive digital experiences aimed at appreciating users and strengthening customer loyalty.
As part of the anniversary celebration, customers can now access a personalised “ALAT Wrapped,” which provides a visual summary of their banking journey on the platform and can be shared across social media.
The bank also introduced the “9 Features in 9 Days” challenge, where customers engage with selected app features daily to unlock rewards after completing all assigned activities.
Additionally, customers who complete their ninth transaction at exactly 9:00am or 9:00pm during the campaign period stand a chance to receive instant rewards.
Another highlight of the celebration is the “ALAT Evolution Jingle Challenge,” which invites customers to create and submit the second verse of the ALAT jingle for an opportunity to win prizes.
Speaking on the anniversary, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Wema Bank, Moruf Oseni, described the milestone as a reflection of the bank’s commitment to innovation and customer-focused banking solutions.
“ALAT at 9 is not just a celebration of time. It reflects how far we have come and where we are heading as a digital bank committed to evolving with our customers,” he said.
Also commenting, the Chief Digital Officer of Wema Bank, Olusegun Adeniyi, said the anniversary campaign was designed to make everyday banking more engaging and rewarding for users.
According to him, the initiative combines personalised insights, interactive experiences, and rewards to create a more dynamic digital banking experience.
The anniversary activities will run from May 2 to May 31, with customers encouraged to update or download the ALAT app via the Google Play Store or Apple App Store to participate in the campaign and unlock rewards.
With the latest celebration, Wema Bank says it remains committed to strengthening its position as a leader in digital banking innovation while continuing to deliver customer-centric financial solutions across Nigeria.
