Man Caught With PVCs

Man caught with PVCs hidden inside soackaway in Badagry.

A man has been found to be in possession of numerous Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) in Araromi Ale community of Oko Afon area, Badagry, Lagos State.

Newsonline reports that the man reportedly buried the PVCs inside the soakaway.

In a video, gone viral on social media, the man was seen being chastised by some people instructing him to bring out the PVCs.

The offence is in contravention of Section 117 of the Electoral Act 2022.

Witnesses said the man would be handed over to the police.

Meanwhile, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), yesterday, raised alarm that politicians have started buying PVCs and financially inducing voters to harvest their Voter Identification Numbers (VIN).

Recall that the Electoral body has advised people who have registered for their PVCs to collect them, saying, “no PVC, no vote.”

INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner in Katsina State, Ibrahim Yahaya-Makarfi, a professor, made the call in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Katsina on Sunday.

According to him, the commission will not allow anyone to vote during the 2023 general elections without presenting his/her PVCs at polling centres.
