U.S. has warned International Students, including Nigerians, against violating visa terms.

In a message shared via its official X handle (formerly Twitter) on Monday, the U.S. Mission in Nigeria cautioned that failure to comply with visa regulations such as dropping out of school, skipping classes, or abandoning academic programs without notifying the institution could lead to immediate visa revocation and future ineligibility for U.S. visas.

“If you drop out, skip classes, or leave your programmes of study without informing your school, your student visa may be revoked, and you may lose eligibility for future U.S. visas,” the mission warned.
The advisory serves as a critical reminder to all student visa holders to maintain lawful status and academic commitment throughout their time in the United States. Violations, the mission stressed, are taken seriously and could have long-term immigration consequences.
Students are urged to remain in good academic standing, communicate transparently with their schools, and strictly follow the terms of their visa.
“Always adhere to the terms of your visa and maintain your student status to avoid any issues,” the statement added.
