1. The Presidential Election Petitions Court has fixed Monday for the hearing of the petitions challenging the declaration of the All Progressives Congress standard bearer, Bola Tinubu as the president-elect. With this development, the expected legal battle by candidates disputing the outcome of the 2023 presidential poll will commence from May 8.

2. President Muhammadu Buhari, on Tuesday, in Abuja, said his regime had delivered change to Nigerians, especially in the area of affordable housing. Appraising his regime’s performance in office during the inauguration of a housing estate in Zuba, Abuja, on Tuesday, the President claimed that the new housing estate was addressing multidimensional poverty among the citizens.

3. The police, on Tuesday, began grilling the suspended Adamawa State Resident Electoral Commissioner, Hudu Yunusa-Ari, at the Force Headquarters in Abuja, over alleged impropriety during the April 15 supplementary governorship poll in Adamawa State. The Force Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, confirmed that Yunusa-Ari and other suspects were in police custody and were being grilled.

4. Ebonyi State Governor and senator-elect, Dave Umahi, on Tuesday, in Abuja, informed the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), of his intent to be President of the 10th Senate. Umahi, who disclosed this after meeting with the President at the Aso Rock Villa, argued that “justice, equity and fairness” must guide the All Progressives Congress when zoning the principal offices of the 10th National Assembly.

5. Operatives of the Delta State Police Command have neutralised one suspected kidnapper while three others were arrested with various degrees of gunshot injury. The police team also recovered one AK-47 rifle, one double barrel locally made gun, 18 rounds of ammunition and a suspected stolen GLK Benz from the suspects.

6. Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, yesterday, declared today as a public holiday to enable the people of Rivers State give the President-elect, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, a rousing welcome. The President-elect, during his two-day official visit to Rivers State, is scheduled to commission the Rumuola/Rumuokwuta Flyover and the ultra-modern Magistrates’ Court Complex, Port Harcourt, on Wednesday and Thursday.

7. The House of Representatives, yesterday, urged the Central Criminal Court and the government of the United Kingdom to temper justice with mercy in sentencing the former Deputy Senate President, Senator Ike Ekweremadu, his wife, Mrs Beatrice Ekweremadu, and Dr Obinna Obeta who have been found guilty of organ harvesting.

8. The first batch of evacuees from Sudan is expected to arrive today after many hiccups. An Air Peace aircraft landed in Egypt last night, according to the Chairperson of the Nigerian in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM) Mrs Abike Dabiri-Erewa.

9. President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the termination of the appointment of the Hydrocarbon Pollution Remediation Project (HYPREP) Project Director, Dr. Ferdinand Giadom. The sack notice was sighted yesterday in a tweet on the official Twitter handle of the Nigerian Presidency, @NGRPresident.

10. A 42-year-old woman, Fatima Rahman, from Chad Republic has been remanded in the Ikoyi Custodial Centre for the alleged murder of her co-wife, Adizat, at her residence in Alejo Street, Ijede, in the Ikorodu area of Lagos State. Fatima was arraigned on Tuesday before Magistrate P. E Nwaka at a Magistrates’ Court sitting in Yaba on one-count charge of murder.
