President Tinubu has vowed to crush terrorism and banditry as insecurity continues to threaten communities nationwide.

NewsOnline Nigeria reports that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has renewed his pledge to defeat terrorism, banditry and other violent crimes across Nigeria, insisting that his administration will not bow to criminal groups despite persistent security challenges confronting several parts of the country.

The President made the declaration through the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, during the National Inter-Denominational Church Service held at the National Christian Centre, Abuja, as part of activities marking the 2026 Democracy Day celebration.

Tinubu’s assurance comes amid continued concerns over insecurity, including kidnappings, terrorist attacks and violent crimes that have left many communities living in fear and raised questions about the effectiveness of ongoing security operations.

Addressing worshippers on behalf of the President, Akume said the Federal Government remains committed to strengthening military and security operations nationwide while intensifying efforts to secure the release of citizens held captive by criminal groups.

“The government of Nigeria shall never succumb to terror, banditry or any form of criminal intimidation,” Akume stated, conveying the President’s message.

The President acknowledged that recent attacks and abductions across the country underscore the scale of the security challenge and the need for sustained action by security agencies.

He reiterated that safeguarding lives and property remains a core responsibility of government, while assuring Nigerians that efforts are ongoing to restore peace and stability in affected areas.

Tinubu also admitted that many Nigerians are grappling with economic hardship, inflationary pressures and displacement caused by insecurity, noting that the administration is working to address these concerns through ongoing reforms and targeted interventions.

According to him, the government is aware of growing public frustration over the security situation and economic difficulties facing households and businesses and is responding with greater urgency.

The renewed pledge comes as citizens and stakeholders continue to demand stronger measures to tackle insecurity, improve intelligence gathering and enhance the capacity of security agencies to protect vulnerable communities across the country.

Despite repeated assurances from government officials, security incidents in several regions have continued to test public confidence, making the fight against terrorism and banditry one of the most pressing challenges confronting the Tinubu administration.
