Tinubu-Shettima: Muslim-Muslim Ticket Is A No No - Aisha

Following the announcement of a former governor of Borno State, Kashim Shettima as the vice-presidential candidate of Bola Tinubu, Aisha has disagreed with the decision of the ruling party, describing the Muslim-Muslim ticket as a no-no.

 

Newsonline reports that Aisha Yesufu Co-convener of Bring Back Our Girl Campaign described the  Muslim-Muslim ticket as an insult to fairness, equity and justice, and impunity of the worst kind.

 

Aisha described the picking of Shettima as a “see finish” and disregard for the Christians in the country.

 

Aisha made the statement while reacting to the picking of Kashim Shettima as the running mate for Tinubu ahead of the coming 2023 general election.

 

In a series of tweets on her handle, the human rights activist said, “If you provided competence accountability and transparency you can have all your political members from one family and nobody will care but when you cause division with incompetent and skewed appointments that favour mostly one region& one religion, then Muslim-Muslim ticket is a no no.”

Aisha went back to history and stated, “In 2014 APC toyed with Muslim-Muslim ticket. It was said then that Tinubu wanted to be Vice President. He let off of his ambition because it would not fly. The same APC has gotten into power and grown wings and horns. Nigerians will clip those wings and horns Insha Allah.”

 

Aisha described the Muslim-Muslim ticket as unfair and advised Christian Nigerians not to allow anyone to make them feel like second-class citizens in the coming election, but to gather their votes against the ruling APC.

 

“Religion should never be an issue when it comes to politics but the happenings in Nigeria in the last 7 years made it an issue. The lack of equity and the brazen impunity is what made it an issue.
Do not allow anyone to make you a second-class citizen in your country.

“The present disastrous President in office is a Muslim who has gathered other Muslims in a very unfair & disproportionate manner around him to lead the country into the sorry state it is in. People have been crying about this unfairness & his party presents Muslim-Muslim ticket!

 

“A Muslim-Muslim ticket is an insult to fairness, equity, and justice. It is see finish. It is impunity of the worst kind,” she said.
