President Tinubu has appointed Olugbemisola Odusote as First Female Director-General of Nigerian Law School.

NewsOnline Nigeria reports that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed Dr Olugbemisola Titilayo Odusote as the new Director-General of the Nigerian Law School.

The appointment was announced in a statement issued on Tuesday by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.

According to the statement, Odusote’s appointment takes effect from January 10, 2026, and is for a four-year tenure.

Odusote, 54, currently serves as the Deputy Director-General and Head of the Lagos Campus of the Nigerian Law School. Her appointment makes her the first woman to head the institution since its establishment in 1962.

She will succeed the incumbent Director-General, Professor Isa Hayatu Chiroma, whose eight-year tenure will end on January 9, 2026.

Odusote obtained her Bachelor of Laws degree from Obafemi Awolowo University and was called to the Nigerian Bar in 1988. She also holds a Master of Laws degree from the same institution, with a specialisation in company and commercial law.

She later earned a PhD in Law from the University of Surrey, United Kingdom, with research interests in public law and the administration of justice.

Odusote joined the Nigerian Law School in 2001 as a lecturer and has since served in several key roles, including Head of the Academic Department, Director of Academics, and Head of Campus. She was also a visiting scholar at Nottingham Trent University in the UK.

A widely published scholar, Odusote has contributed to reputable local and international law journals and presented papers at numerous legal education conferences. She has also served on various committees of the Council of Legal Education and the Nigerian Bar Association.

As Director-General, Odusote will oversee the institution’s academic leadership, administrative management, and strategic direction across all campuses. She will also act as the principal liaison between the Nigerian Law School, the Council of Legal Education, the Body of Benchers, and the Nigerian Bar Association.
