Rotimi Amaechi has joined ADC in Rivers as party office get burnt by thugs in Ubima.

NewsOnline Nigeria reports that Former Minister of Transportation and ex-Rivers State governor, Rotimi Amaechi, has officially defected to the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

Amaechi completed his registration with the party on Friday morning at Ward 8 in Ubima, Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers State.

The development comes amid rising tension in the community after suspected thugs reportedly attacked and set the ADC’s local office ablaze earlier in the day.

Despite the incident, the former minister addressed supporters shortly after his registration, urging them to remain calm and avoid any form of retaliation.

“Don’t be violent because violence may lead to the death of somebody—don’t be violent. At the same time, they can’t stop us from meeting in our community,” Amaechi told his supporters.

Amaechi commended security operatives deployed to the area for maintaining order during the exercise. He particularly praised the Rivers State Commissioner of Police and the Director of the Department of State Services (DSS) for their professionalism.

The former governor also called on security agencies to swiftly track down those responsible for the arson attack on the party office, stressing that acts of intimidation would not stop the ADC’s activities in the community.

Amaechi maintained that the party would continue its mobilization efforts in the area despite the attack.
