David Hundeyin has stated that Peter Obi is the biggest roadblock to 2027 opposition victory.

NewsOnline Nigeria reports that Nigerian Investigative Journalist David Hundeyin has publicly criticized Peter Obi for what he describes as a dangerously ambiguous approach to the 2027 presidential election, warning it could sabotage efforts to build a united opposition front against President Bola Tinubu.

In a recent post on his verified X (formerly Twitter) account, Hundeyin argued that Obi’s reluctance to state his intentions openly is blocking meaningful coalition talks among opposition figures.

“Let me be absolutely clear about 2027: Peter Obi is the single biggest obstacle to mounting a serious challenge. He refuses to say what he wants or where he stands. This is not a game,” Hundeyin declared.

He accused the former Anambra State governor of stalling discussions aimed at forging a broad alliance capable of unseating the incumbent government. Hundeyin noted that even close associates of Obi reportedly remain in the dark about whether he intends to run independently as he did in 2023 or collaborate with other opposition leaders such as former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.

According to Hundeyin, this lack of transparency risks repeating the divisions that plagued the opposition during the last election cycle, when rival candidacies split the anti-Tinubu vote and helped ensure his victory.

The journalist emphasized that clear, early declarations of intent are essential for serious coalition-building. He warned that failure to resolve these uncertainties would make it much easier for Tinubu and the ruling party to secure re-election in 2027.

Hundeyin concluded his remarks with a stark warning that Nigerians’ demand for political change is too urgent to be delayed or derailed by any one leader’s indecision. He urged Obi to clarify his position without further delay, arguing that the stakes for the country’s democratic future are too high for personal political calculations to take precedence over collective strategy.
