The National Leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) may take the bull by the horn by expelling Wike and his G5 teams from the party ahead of the 2023 election.

Newsonline reports that the PDP also intends to delist its candidates from the G5 states by writing to Independent National Electoral Commission, stating that it has no candidate again for any political posts in the 2023 election.

PDP in its third move may also dissolve state party structures in the G5 states of Rivers State, Enugu State, Abia State, Benue State and Oyo State.

If the Peoples Democratic Party makes effect its threat, the G5 governors including Governors Nyesom Wike of Rivers State, Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State, Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, Samuel Ortom of Benue State and Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State will lose their membership of the party.

Also, Seyi Makinde of Oyo will lose his governorship candidate for the state he is recontesting in 2023; Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi will lose his senatorial ticket for Enugu North; Okezie Ikpeazu will lose his senatorial ticket for Abia South; and Samuel Ortom will lose his senatorial ticket for Benue.

Another loss for the G5 governors will be that their candidates for governors in the case of Abia, Enugu, Benue and Rivers. They will also lose their candidates for House of Assembly positions, House of Representatives positions and senatorial positions.

The G5 governors led by Nyesom Wike on Monday departed Nigeria for London to agree on a consensus candidate to endorse among the presidential candidates, particularly between Bola Tinubu of All Progressives Congress and Peter Obi of Labour Party.

The journey to London, anonymous sources have said, has been less fruitful, as there is division among the five governors on who to endorse.

Sources said, Wike and Ortom allegedly preferred Peter Obi, while Ikpeazu and Ifeanyi are insisting that the governorship candidates of the Labour Party in their states of Enugu and Abia have to resign for their support to go to Peter Obi. Seyi Makinde is reportedly indifferent.

Other sources also said, at a deadlock on the above division, Ortom and Ikpeazu are suggesting that the G5 governors remain neutral on presidential choice.

Recall that Governor Wike said he would announce his presidential candidate in January, but has consistently added that he cannot work for the APC candidate, Tinubu. Also, Ortom on Christmas Day, told Nigerians that LP candidate, Peter Obi is the best candidate that can solve the country’s problems. Ortom added that being a PDP member is the only hindrance for him to campaign for the LP candidate.

A ranking member of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the Director-General, Media Atiku-the-light
Organization, a campaign mobilization group for Atiku/Okowa presidential ticket, Abdul-Aziz Na’ibi Abubakar, disclosed this on Wednesday.

Abdul-Aziz Na’ibi Abubakar said, “PDP may expel the G5 and write INEC of not having candidates for their respective positions. PDP will possibly sacrifice Makinde’s seat, all the candidates in Rivers state, Ortom senate seat and the other 2 governors contesting for senate.”

Recall that the presidential candidate of PDP, Atiku Abubakar had said the G5 governors maybe end their political careers if they work against his ambition.
