Viral video has put Ex-Lawmaker Oyintiloye under scrutiny over alleged inciting remarks ahead of Saturday Osun Guber election.

NewsOnline Nigeria reports that former Osun State House of Assembly member Olatunbosun Oyintiloye has attracted criticism after a video appeared to show him making controversial remarks to supporters ahead of the August 15, 2026 governorship election.

The footage, which has circulated widely on social media, captured the former lawmaker addressing a political gathering.

Some viewers interpreted his comments as encouraging supporters to resist perceived political opponents violently. The complete context of the remarks and the circumstances surrounding the recording, however, have not been independently established.

The development has generated reactions among political observers and residents already concerned about election-related violence in Osun State.

Oyintiloye, an All Progressives Congress chieftain who previously represented Obokun State Constituency in the Osun Assembly, had recently called on political parties, candidates and their supporters to reject violence before the election.

He had also urged the police to remain neutral and provide adequate security to enable residents to vote without intimidation.

The viral footage has consequently raised questions about how the remarks should be reconciled with his earlier public appeals for a peaceful election.

Oyintiloye had not issued a detailed public clarification of the controversial video at the time of filing this report.

The Independent National Electoral Commission has fixed the Osun governorship election for Saturday, August 15, 2026.

The controversy comes amid heightened political tension and reports of violent incidents involving party supporters in parts of the state.

Political leaders, civil society organisations and election observers have repeatedly urged candidates and their supporters to avoid inflammatory language and conduct capable of undermining the electoral process.

Security agencies have also been called upon to investigate credible threats, remain politically neutral and protect voters, election personnel and voting materials.

Stakeholders have stressed that residents must be allowed to exercise their democratic rights freely and without violence, coercion or intimidation.

The circulating video does not, by itself, establish that Oyintiloye committed an offence. Any allegation of incitement would require proper investigation, consideration of the complete recording and an opportunity for him to respond.
