Osun Governorship Election Results

Results have started emerging from polling units in the ongoing Osun State governorship election as voting and ballot counting conclude in parts of the state.

Official voting is scheduled to close at 2:30 p.m. However, electoral regulations allow voters who joined the queue before the deadline to be accredited and cast their ballots.

At polling units where voting has ended, officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission have begun sorting and counting ballots in the presence of party agents, observers and voters.

NewsOnline Nigeria will publish verified polling-unit results as they are officially announced. Readers should note that individual polling-unit results do not represent the final outcome of the election, which can only be declared by INEC after collation.

INEC recorded 2,339,233 registered voters for the election, with 1,954,800 reported to have collected their Permanent Voter Cards.

Fifteen candidates are contesting the governorship election, although campaigns largely centred on three leading contenders.

Incumbent Governor Ademola Adeleke is seeking re-election on the platform of the Accord Party. His major challengers include Bola Oyebamiji of the All Progressives Congress and Najeem Salaam of the African Democratic Congress.

Results from polling units across Osun’s 30 local government areas are expected to continue emerging before collation progresses to ward, local government and state levels.
