Muslim-Muslim Ticket: APC, Tinubu Pick Ganduje As VP Candidate

Despite the outrage against the Musliim-Muslim ticket the ruling All Progressive Congress, APC, and  Tinubu have picked Ganduje ad the vice presidential running mate in the coming 2023 general election.

 

Newsonline reports that the All Progressive Congress, APC, after their National Working Committee meeting on Wednesday, in Abuja settled for the governor of Kano state, Abdullahi Ganduje as Vice presidential candidate.

 

The development which Newsonline had been reporting on moves by the ruling party to field a Muslim-Muslim ticket to capture northern votes against PDP candidate, Atiku Abubakar.

 

In a statement by the Director-General of Ganduje’s Support Group, Suleiman Magaji, the ruling National Working Committee of the party settled for Abdullahi Ganduje following his loyalty to the party and their presidential flag bearer, Ahmed Tinubu.

While acknowledging that the issue of Muslim-Muslim tickets was discussed in the NWC meeting before settling for Ganduje. Magaji said the competence and loyalty of the Kano State incumbent governor made way for him.

Newsonline had reported that the three major presidential candidates, Peter Obi, Labour Party, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, APC, and Atiku Abubakar, PDP, are yet to submit the names of their vice-presidential candidates to Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.

 

INEC has however maintained it will not extend the deadline for all political parties to submit their vice-presidential candidates’ forms.

 

Magaji in the statement obtained by Newsonline stated, “the National Working Committee narrowed down the choice of Tinubu’s running mate to the incumbent Kano State Governor on the basis of loyalty, commitment and infrastructural development of his state.”

 

While calling for support for Tinubu and Ganduje tickets, Magaji said, “It is time we close ranks to ensure victory for all our candidates from the ward levels to the presidency.”

 

Magaji commended the National Working Committee for recognizing the developmental strides of Ganduje in Kano State and his loyalty the supremacy of the party.
