Moniepoint has opened applications for DreamDevs Cohort 2 to train and hire Africa’s Next-Gen Software Engineers.

NewsOnline Nigeria reports that Moniepoint Inc has opened applications for the second cohort of its DreamDevs initiative, aimed at strengthening Africa’s technology talent pipeline by equipping recent graduates with industry-ready digital skills.

The fintech company said the programme builds on the success of its pilot cohort launched last year, which produced four hires, three interns and one full-time software engineer.

Co-founder and Chief Technology Officer of Moniepoint, Felix Ike, said the company is expanding the initiative after seeing strong results from the first batch of participants.

“The results from our first cohort validated our belief that with the right training and support, Africa’s young tech talent can compete globally,” Ike said.

“This year, we’re doubling down on our commitment by aiming to convert half of our participants into full-time employees. DreamDevs is about creating sustainable career pathways that drive Africa’s digital economy forward.”

Selection into the second cohort will be based on candidates’ technical aptitude, learning potential, and alignment with Moniepoint’s values of innovation and excellence.

DreamDevs is part of Moniepoint’s wider talent development strategy and supports its goal of using technology to drive economic inclusion across Africa. The initiative also complements other programmes backed by the company, including HatchDev, a partnership with the University of Lagos’ NITHub that trains about 500 specialised developers annually in areas such as software engineering, intelligent systems and the Internet of Things (IoT).

It also builds on Moniepoint’s Women-in-Tech programme, which is now in its fifth year.

The programme is aligned with the Federal Government’s 3 Million Technical Talent (3MTT) initiative, where Moniepoint is a key sponsor. While 3MTT focuses on large-scale digital skills training nationwide, DreamDevs offers a more specialised track that takes graduates from foundational skills to direct employment.

“We’re proud to support the government’s vision of building three million technical talents while also creating direct employment opportunities through initiatives like DreamDevs,” Ike added.

“By investing in young people and providing them with practical experience and product development opportunities, we are contributing to sustainable economic growth across the continent.”

DreamDevs is open to graduates across Nigeria and is positioned as a national talent search for emerging software engineers. From a large pool of applicants, only 20 high-potential candidates will be selected annually for an intensive nine-week bootcamp.

Top-performing participants will move on to internship placements, with the possibility of securing full-time roles at Moniepoint.

The programme targets graduates of technology, computer science, engineering and related disciplines who already have foundational programming skills in HTML, CSS and JavaScript. During the bootcamp, participants receive hands-on training and mentorship from experienced Moniepoint engineers and are exposed to real-world product development and engineering workflows.

Participants from the first cohort have praised the programme’s impact. Victor Adepoju, now a backend engineer at Moniepoint, said the initiative provided both technical depth and vital workplace skills.

“The organisation of the programme was top-notch. The training covered a wide range of topics and gave me a solid foundation, particularly in cloud technologies like Google Cloud Platform,” he said.

“The emphasis on soft skills such as planning and prioritisation has been invaluable in my day-to-day work.”
