THE Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has said it will examine 176,408 candidates in its 2023 mock examination scheduled to hold on March 30.
JAMB’s Head of Public Affairs and Protocol, Dr. Fabian Benjamin, announced this in a statement yesterday in Abuja.
Benjamin said the board had also directed candidates who registered for this year’s Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) optional Mock-UTME that their notification slips would be ready for printing as from yesterday.
“All candidates for the Mock-UTME are to visit https://www.jamb.gov.ng., click on 2023 Mock-UTME on the MENU button to print their slips after inputting their registration number.
JOINT ADMISSIONS AND MATRICULATION BOARD
“This directive is only applicable to those candidates who had indicated interest to take the mock examination.
“The notification slip would contain the candidates’ registration number, venue, date and time of the examination to enable them to easily locate their centres before the examination.
JAMB announces new date for DE registration, issues guideline
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB, has reopened registration for the 2023 Direct entry registration.
JAMB said the new registration starts from March 20, 2023 and would end on April 28, 2023.
The board explained that it suspended the registration, which was scheduled for February 20, 2023 because it discovered devices and machinations to circumvent and compromise the standard of A’ level qualifications required from DE candidates.
This was disclosed by JAMB’s Registrar, Prof. Is-haq Oloyede, in a statement issued on Monday.
A statement by Oloyede reads partly: “Recall that recent joint operations of the Federal Ministry of Education and the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) on DE qualifications brought to light some of these unsavoury and nefarious activities. Bayero University, Kano (BUK) has also consistently brought to the fore the high rate of forgery of A’Level qualifications for DE.”
He said some candidates forged their A’ level certificates to register for DE and eventually got admitted.
Oloyede said out of 148 candidates verified by BUK, only 6 were found to be genuine.
The JAMB boss said the board is working to identify candidates who engaged in such activities, adding that those identified are being dealt with.
Oloyode said the 2023 DE registration will only be restricted to JAMB PTCs and will also be done under strict supervision.
JAMB extends 2023 UTME registration
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has extended its 2023 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examinations (UTME) registration exercise by one week starting from Wednesday, 15 February.
This is contained in a statement made available to journalists in Abuja on Wednesday by the Head of Public Affairs and Protocol of the board, Fabian Benjamin.
Mr Benjamin said that by the extension, the sale of ePINs would end on Monday, 20 February, while the UTME registration would end on Wednesday, 22 February.
“Recall that in line with the board’s 2023 schedule of activities, as earlier released, the closing date for the sale of both the ePINs and the 2023 UTME application documents was slated for Tuesday, Feb.14.
“1,527,068 candidates have successfully registered for the 2023 UTME exercise inclusive of the 168,748, who indicated their interest to take the mock-UTME as at the close of the sale of ePINs on Tuesday, Feb. 14,
“It should also be noted that the board, based on its projections, had expanded its capacity to register up to a 100,000 candidates per day.
“With this, it was possible to register all desiring candidates within the space of a few days. However, less than 50,000 candidates were turning up for registration which is less than the installed registration capacity.
“Surprisingly, in the last two days before the closing date, the pace picked up remarkably with over 100,000 candidates registering on a daily basis.
