He also prayed for a year filled with blessings, progress, and sustained security for the state and the nation at large.

Similarly, Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf declared Thursday a public holiday. The announcement, delivered through the state’s Commissioner for Information, Ibrahim Garba Waiya, called on Muslim faithful to use the occasion for spiritual reflection and renewal.

Governor Yusuf reiterated his administration’s commitment to improving the lives of Kano residents and fostering peaceful coexistence across the state.

In Oyo State, Governor Seyi Makinde declared Friday, June 27, 2025, a public holiday to mark the Islamic New Year. The announcement was made in a circular signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Professor Olanike Adeyemo.

The state government noted that the holiday is intended to provide Muslim communities with the opportunity to honour the spiritual significance of Hijrah, offer prayers, and seek divine guidance for the prosperity of Oyo State and the nation.
