Kano Government has debunked security crisis rumours and assured residents of safety.

NewsOnline Nigeria reports that the Kano State Government has refuted widespread claims of an impending security crisis, insisting that the state remains peaceful, stable, and fully secure.

The clarification comes after a meeting of the State Security Council held on Sunday, where Governor Abba Yusuf received comprehensive updates from all service chiefs on ongoing security operations across the state.

In a statement released Monday by the Director-General of Media and Publicity, Sunusi Dawakin-Tofa, the government dismissed the circulating reports as unfounded, sensational, and aimed at causing unnecessary panic.

“There is no credible or actionable intelligence suggesting any looming security threat in Kano,” the statement read.

The government expressed concern over what it described as a disturbing rise in fake security alerts and cautioned those responsible to desist or face prosecution.

According to the statement, the state has further strengthened coordination with security agencies and local communities, with heightened surveillance across all 44 local government areas.

“Security formations have been adequately briefed, strategically positioned, and are working round the clock to prevent any breach,” Dawakin-Tofa said, emphasising that every part of Kano remains under close and active monitoring.

Residents were urged to remain calm, carry on with their normal activities, and refrain from sharing unverified information on social media.

The government added that intelligence gathering has been enhanced, inter-agency collaboration improved, and advanced security mechanisms deployed to safeguard the state.

“Kano will not succumb to fear, misinformation, or attempts by mischief-makers to destabilise its peace. The government remains fully committed to protecting lives and property,” the statement concluded.
