Senator Ned Nwoko has defended polygamy on live TV stating that he feel sorry for men with one wife.

NewsOnline Nigeria reports that Senator Ned Nwoko, who represents Delta North in the National Assembly, has stirred controversy after declaring that he feels “sorry for men married to only one wife.”

Speaking during an appearance on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics, the senator argued that men are naturally meant to have multiple wives, claiming it brings “balance” to their lives.

“Every man should marry more than one wife,” Nwoko said. “Just imagine someone asking you to stand on one leg — it’s difficult. But standing on two, three, or four legs is much more balanced.”

He added that he feels pity for men who stick to monogamy, describing it as “standing on one leg.”

When asked whether he had any regrets about practicing polygamy, the senator responded confidently:

“No, no, no. I will do the same thing again.”

Addressing comments that he seems to prefer “young and beautiful” wives, Nwoko said unapologetically,

“This is the way it is, and that is the way it should be.”

The senator’s remarks have sparked mixed reactions across social media, with many Nigerians criticizing his comments as outdated and sexist, while others defended his right to personal choice.
