Governor Alex Otti has denied defection rumours and affirmed loyalty to Labour Party.

NewsOnline Nigeria reports that Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, has debunked widespread social media reports claiming he has defected from the Labour Party (LP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

In a statement issued by the Abia State Commissioner for Information, Prince Okey Kanu, the government described the report as a fabrication by political propagandists unsettled by Governor Otti’s record of good governance and rising popularity across party lines.

Kanu reaffirmed that Otti remains a committed and proud member of the Labour Party, the platform under which he was overwhelmingly elected by the people of Abia State.

“Governor Alex Otti remains focused on rebuilding Abia, restoring accountability, and delivering the dividends of democracy to every citizen,” the Commissioner stated. “His commitment is to service and transformation, not political games or defections.”

Kanu also recalled that during the October edition of “Governor Alex Otti Speaks to Abians,” the governor had made it clear that his priority is service to humanity, not political permutations or personal ambition.

He added that the Otti administration continues to uphold values of transparency, fiscal discipline, infrastructure renewal, economic growth, youth empowerment, and the restoration of public confidence, principles that align perfectly with the Labour Party’s ideals.

The Commissioner urged Abians to ignore the false reports, describing them as a desperate attempt to distract the public from the government’s ongoing developmental strides.

“Governor Alex Otti remains resolute in his mission to build a new Abia founded on truth, justice, and equity under the Labour Party banner,” Kanu concluded.
