Governor Soludo Bans Donation By Commissioners, Public Officials

Soludo Gifts Workers N15k For Christmas, Increases Salary By 10%

Governor Soludo has banned donations by commissioners and public officials in his drive to checkmate corruption and looting of the state treasury.

 

 

Newsonline reports that the Anambra State Governor, Professor Chukwuma Soludo, has banned state commissioners, permanent secretaries, directors, special advisers and assistants from making public donations or resign from their offices.

 

The governor of Anambra State, Professor Soludo, said the action was to help check corruption in his administration.

Governor Soludo made this known at the 5th Synod of Anglican Communion, Church of Nigeria, Anglican Diocese of Amichi.

 

Professor Chukwuma, speaking on, “Strangers and Pilgrims in the World: Our Christian Status”, the theme of the Synod, said the church as a public place that teaches morality must join hands with the government to fight corruption among public office holders.

 

“It is part of our administration’s policy to try to tackle corruption among government officials,” Governor Soludo said in the Synod presided over by Rt. Revd. Ephraim Ikeakor.

 

The former governor of Central bank of Nigeria also called on the church to join the government in ensuring that security returns to Igbo land.

 

The governor said the increasing cases of insecurity in Igbo land is as a  result of increasing idolatry among Ndigbo.

 

Prof Soludo called on Anglican communion and the body of Christ to step up on speaking about the sin of idolatry.

 

“We must fight such development because if the church as an institution is muscled out by promoters of idolatry, nobody will be safe anymore,” he said.

 

Stating that his government is committed to ensuring Anambra residents get good leadership in his administration, Soludo begged the church to join hands with his government in sensitizing members on government policies and the need to support his administration.
