Newsonline reports that three other occupants of the car were injured when Governor Makinde was returning to Ibadan, the state capital from Saki where he had gone to attend a town hall meeting with members of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) ahead of his reelection bid.

It was reported that the driver identified as Ramon Mustapha lost his life on the spot after he was flung when his vehicle eventually landed after tumbling several times.

The driver could have survived the crash if he used his seat belt, a source at the incident told The Nation.

Another source who was part of the convoy and spoke on condition of anonymity said Mustapha smashed his head in the unfortunate accident.

It was gathered that the vehicle which the driver was driving identified as “Zebra 4” somersaulted throwing off some bags of rice bought by some individuals on the trip.
